Olivia Nel (Grade 10) recently attended the SA Senior Shortcourse Swimming Championships, where she posted many personal best times, and made the ‘B’ qualifying time for senior World Shortcourse Championships (which take place in China in December). The qualifying times are based on Olympic and World Championship senior times, and they are extremely tough – especially in the sprint events, so it has been a huge achievement for Olivia at age 16 even to achieve a B time. She came home with 1 gold, 4 silvers and a bronze medal.
